Subject: Suggestion: Native Double Opt-In Functionality
Dear Zenler Team,
I hope this finds you well.
I would like to raise a question regarding the implementation of a native double opt-in process within Zenler, without the need for workarounds or a secondary funnel.
Technically speaking, it is not particularly difficult to develop a proper double opt-in feature. This is considered standard functionality on almost any modern marketing platform. The fact that it has not yet been integrated appears to be more a matter of prioritisation than technical feasibility.
In essence, a double opt-in only requires two core processes:
An automatic email with a unique confirmation link sent immediately after the user subscribes.
Click-tracking that updates the subscriber’s status to “confirmed” and triggers any subsequent automation.
This is a straightforward sequence:
The form passes the email address to the database.
The system generates a unique token.
The system sends an email containing the tokenised link.
The user clicks the link.
The server verifies the token.
The system marks the contact as “opt-in confirmed”.
All further workflows are then activated.
Many other SaaS platforms have implemented this feature with relatively little development effort, both because it is standard practice and because it is essential from a compliance perspective (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM).
In terms of complexity, on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being trivial, 10 being extremely complex), I would estimate this is about a 3–4. An experienced development team could certainly integrate this functionality within a matter of weeks.
I understand Zenler has historically focused more on course hosting and payment infrastructure rather than email marketing. However, I believe this feature is becoming increasingly important for many users who wish to maintain a professional and legally robust email workflow without relying on third-party tools.
It does feel somewhat overdue—indeed!
Could you please let me know if there are any plans to prioritise this feature in the near future? It would be greatly appreciated by those of us who are committed to building fully compliant and streamlined systems within Zenler.
Many thanks for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Ulrike
